How to Use the gtbank Token

When conducting any of the transactions listed below, you will be required to input a 6-digit code in a defined field to validate and conclude the transaction. This code can be generated by clicking the white button on the device.

How to Get gtbank Security Token

There are three primary ways to obtain a GTBank security token:

1. Physical Hardware Token

Download the Form: Visit the GTBank website and download the “e-token application form” from their Internet Banking section.
Fill Out the Form: Complete the form with your accurate details.
Submit at a Branch: Take the filled form and a valid identification document (e.g., National ID, driver’s license, or international passport) to any GTBank branch.
Collect Token: Once your application is processed, you can collect your hardware token from the same branch.

2. GT eToken App (Soft Token)

This is a software-based token that you can activate on your smartphone.

Download the App: Download the “GT eToken” app from your device’s app store (Google Play Store or App Store).
Activate the App:
- Debit Card: Provide your user credential (e.g., Account number, User ID, Phone, or Email), the last eight digits of your GTBank debit card, and your debit card PIN.
- Hardware Token: Provide your user credential and the 6-digit OTP generated by your existing GTBank hardware token device.
- Call GTConnect on 080 2900 2900 or 080 3900 3900 to get a 9-digit authorization code. Enter this code along with any of your user credentials to activate the app.

3.Gtbank ussd code (Soft Token)

The GTBank USSD code to generate a soft token is *737*7#.

Here’s how it works:

Dial 737*7# from your GTBank-registered mobile number.
Enter your USSD transaction PIN when prompted.
Your token code will be displayed immediately on your phone screen.

This code is used to generate a one-time password (OTP) that you can use to authorize transactions on the GTWorld app or internet banking platform.

How to Activate Your GT eToken app

To activate your GT eToken app, select your customer type and choose your preferred activation method:

Download the “GT eToken” app from your device’s app store.
Choose whether you’re a “Retail” or “Corporate” customer.
Choose Activation Method:
- Debit Card: Provide your user credential (Account Number, User ID, Phone number, or Email) and the last 8 digits of your GTBank debit card along with your debit card PIN
- Hardware Token: Provide your user credential and the 6-digit OTP generated by your existing GTBank hardware token
- Authorization Code: Call GTConnect to get an authorization code. Enter this code along with any of your user credentials.
Create Passcode: Once activated, create a unique 6-digit Passcode for subsequent logins.

Using the GT eToken App

Open the App: Launch the app and enter your 6-digit Passcode.
Generate OTP: The app will display a 6-digit OTP that changes every few seconds.
Enter OTP: Enter the OTP into the required field on the GTWorld platform (app or website) to authorize your transaction.

Debit Card: Provide your user credential (e.g. Account number, User ID, Phone or Email), the last eight (8) digits of your GTBank debit card & your debit card PIN.

Hardware Token: Provide your user Credential and the 6-digit OTP generated by your GTBank hardware token device.

Authorization Code: To get a 9-digit authorization code, call GTCONNECT contact centre on 080 2900 2900 or 080 3900 3900. To activate your GT eToken app using this method, enter any of your user credentials and your authorization code.

Using Your GT eToken app

Once your app is activated, you can create a unique 4-digit PIN that will be used for subsequent log in to the application and enjoy 24/7 banking.

How to deactivate gtbank token

There are a couple of ways to deactivate your GTBank token:

1. Deactivating through Internet Banking

This is the most direct method if you have access to your GTBank Online Banking account:

Visit the GTBank website and log in to your Internet Banking account.
Click on the “Self Service” tab on the top menu.
Select “Deactivate Token” from the dropdown menu.
Select the token you want to deactivate from the list.
Provide the answer to your secret question.
Click on “Send Deactivation Code.” You’ll receive a code via SMS and email.
Retrieve the deactivation code and enter it in the appropriate box. Click “Confirm” to complete the deactivation.

2. Deactivating through GTWorld App

If you prefer using your mobile phone, you can deactivate your token via the GTWorld app:

Open the GTWorld app and log in with your credentials.
Tap on the “Profile” icon at the top-left corner of the home screen.
Choose this option from the menu.
Select the token you wish to deactivate.
Provide the answer to your secret question and enter the generated token code.
Click on “Continue” to complete the deactivation process

How do I use the GTBank token?

Hardware Token: Press the button on the device to generate an OTP and enter it when prompted during a transaction.
