What the Token Does
The GTBank token generates a 6-digit One-Time Password (OTP) that you must enter to authorize certain transactions, such as:
- Transfers to GTBank or other banks
- Bill payments
- FX transactions
- Adding new beneficiaries
- Changing security settings
Type of gtbank token
GTBank offers two types of security tokens to help protect your online and mobile banking transactions
1. Hardware Token
- A physical device that generates a 6-digit One-Time Password (OTP) at the press of a button.
- Used to authorize sensitive transactions like transfers, bill payments, and adding new beneficiaries.
- Ideal if you prefer a standalone, offline security tool.
2. GT eToken (Mobile App)
- A digital token app available on Android and iOS.
- Generates OTPs just like the hardware token, but directly from your smartphone.
- Can be activated using your GTBank debit card, a hardware token, or an authorization code from GTConnect
- Offers the same security, with the convenience of being always with you.
How to Use the Hardware Token
- Press the white button on the token device.
- A 6-digit OTP will appear on the screen.
- Enter this code in the required field during your online or mobile to GTBank or other banking transaction.
- The code is valid for a short time—use it immediately.

- Download the GT eToken app from the App Store or banks
- Bill payments
- FX transactions

How to deactivate gtbank token
To deactivate your GTBank token—whether it’s the physical hardware device or the GT eToken mobile app—you’ll need to contact GTBank directly for security reasons. Here are your options:
1. Call GTConnect (Customer Care)
- Dial 0700 4826 66328 (0700 GTCONNECT)
- Or call +234 802 900 2900 or +234 803 900 3900
- Request token deactivation and verify your identity with your account details.
2. Visit a GTBank Branch
- Go to any GTBank branch with a valid ID.
- Ask to deactivate your token—especially useful if your device is lost or compromised.
3. Submit a Request Online
- Visit the GTBank Help Centre and use the Complaints & Enquiries form to request deactivation.
