The Tanzanian miner,Mr. Saniniu Laizer who digging up two massive chunks of one of the world’s rarest gemstones worth $3.35million has found another third multi-million-dollar lump of Tanzanite.
Mr Laizer’s discovery turned him into an overnight millionaire after the government handed him a cheque for 7.74 billion Tanzanian shillings – or $3.35 million for the first two stones which weighed 9.2kg and 5.8kg
The father-of-30 children has a deep violet-blue colour, near his home in northern Tanzania.
The third stone allegedly weighs six kilograms and has an estimated value of $2million (£1.5million ).
To contribute towards his community as social responsibility, the 52-year-old, who has four wives and 30 children, vowed to use some of his earnings to build a school and a shopping mall in his community, where many parents can’t afford to pay for their children’s education.
The former Maasai herdsman, who initially thought it was sheer luck that his team stumbled upon precious stones, now says he’s absolutely sure even bigger stones could be found at his mining pit in the near future.
