Nigeria reggae music icon Majekodunmi Fashaeke popularly known by many as Majek Fashe is dead’
The rain maker, known for his hit song ‘send down the rain’ in the 90s reportedly died in died in a hospital in New York on Monday around 5:45pm after a prolonged illness at age 57.
His manager, Uzoma Omenka, confirmed this in a video uploaded on the late singer’s Instagram handle.
Fashek was down with an illness in 2019 and was on admission at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich in England.
Majek started his career in the early 80s with the group Jastix, Majek went solo and released his debut single Prisoner of Conscience in 1988.
Until his death, he was one of Nigeria’s surviving Reggae music legend, Majek attracted international attention in 1987, with his self-penned tune, ‘Send down the Rain.’
The singer also played a supporting role in the 2000 Nollywood movie ‘Mark of the Beast’.
