Qatar makes face masks mandatory with violators to be fined up to $50,000 or jailed for three years

Wearing masks will be mandatory to go outside starting Sunday,Qatar’s interior ministry announced on Thursday

The ministry said, those who do not comply will be fined up to 200,000 riyals ($53,000).Also Violators could also be jailed up to three years, or fined.

The only exception will be if the person is alone driving in a vehicle.

Qatar reported 1,733 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours for a total of 28,272 cases and a total of 14 deaths.

At a meeting on Wednesday, cabinet mandated the wearing of face masks “upon leaving the house for any reason” except when “alone while driving a vehicle,”

As at Thursday, 14th May, Global covid-19 pandemic hit 4 248 389 cases(77 965) and 292 046 deaths (4 647)
