Former United states Vice President Joe Biden has won Washington’s presidential primary.
He also won Idaho, Michigan, Mississippi and Missouri, while,Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders won North Dakota.
Biden led with nearly 38 per cent of the statewide vote, compared with about 36 per cent for Sanders.
This has cement his status as the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Washington has 89 pledged delegates — are notable, in part because the state was seen as one that could give Sanders a much-needed boost.
Biden and Sanders are the last remaining major candidates in the race.. Biden was up by just two points with 41.5 percent support the Monday before the primary, while Sanders had 39.5 percent.
Biden’s success in Washington offers a tough message for Sanders as four more states go to the polls on Tuesday, even amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Democratic Party would know the delegate split once the election is certified next week. said Will Casey, a spokesman for the state Democratic Party.
