Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh has been sentence to seven years in jail for embezzling the sum of N400m meant for the procurement of arms.
The charges were filed against Metuh and his company, Destra Investment, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC
Metuh was found guilty of all the seven count charge against him including illegally receiving N400m from former National Security Adviser, Dasuki Sambo in November 2014.
Giving his judgement, Justice Abang sentenced Metuh to count one- seven years, on count two -7years, on count three -5years, on count four-7years, on count five- 3years and the second defendant shall pay N25 million, on count six-3years and second defendant shall pay N25 million and finally on count seven-7years in prison, with effect from today.
Justice Okon Abang, also ordered the winding up Destra Investments, closure of its accounts in Diamond Bank and Asset Resource Management, and the forfeiture of the money in the accounts to the Federal Government.
The judge further held that the convict shall pay the sum of N 375million to the Federal Government of Nigeria and the sentence would run concurrently starting from today,.
