President Muhammadu Buhari has officially presented Nigeria’s visa policy 2020 which is expected to support the country’s economic recovery and growth plan.
According to the President, the new policy is a pathway to achieving the security, economy and transparency agenda of president his administration.
Buhari said the review of the visa policy is intended to attract innovation, specialised skills and knowledge from abroad to complement local ones.
The revised version of the document presented at the state house in Abuja has 79 visa classifications, one of which is the Visa on arrival.
He said, “Nigeria’s Visa Policy (NVP 2020) provides an avenue to achieve African integration by the introduction of visas on arrival for short visits to Nigeria for holders of passports of African Union countries.”
The revised policy is a sequel to Buhari’s pronouncements in November 2019 that a new policy of visas on arrival would be granted to all African travellers starting from January 2020.
