The America’s Got Talent announced that first-year judges Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough would no longer be returning for a second season.
Union was amongst numerous workforce contributors who expressed worries over a white male contestant whose “talent” consisted of impersonating famous singers Beyoncé song with black hands, which led Union to ask producers to put off the contestant from the show.
At the stop of the season, neither Union or Hough have been renewed despite their contracts being renewable.
Union and Hough had been the only two ladies forged members of the show, changing two other women, Heidi Klum and the Spice Girls’ Mel B, who left after ultimate season. Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Terry Crews presently stay on the show.
Union was also subjected to persevered criticism surrounding her hairstyles, which had been “too Black” for AGT’s audience. And whilst one community source stated there was once comments about “hair continuity” for both women, the truth that this critique even surfaced is extraordinarily troubling.
Sources advised the journal that Leno made a joke at some stage in the phase about a portray of Simon Cowell, who serves as an executive producer and decide on the show, and his dogs. The insiders alleged that the comic joked that the dogs appeared like they should have been “on the menu at a Korean restaurant.” But Gabrielle Union suggested him for the joke, which had reportedly been eliminated from the phase by using the time it aired. Gabrielle hasn’t confirmed the reports that her exit from AGT may have to do with racism but her husband, Dwyane Wade regarded to hint at that as he defended Gabrielle on Twitter.
He wrote: “So when i got the information that my wife was being fired—my first question used to be obviously why!? Iam nonetheless ready on a correct reply to that question. But if absolutely everyone knows @itsgabrielleu or have heard of her you be aware of she’s an advocate for our neighborhood and culture.
He added some other tweet: “As proud as i had been of her being chosen as a judge on #AGT— Iam even extra proud of her standing up for what she stands for and that’s US.
“So [cheers] to you @itsgabrielleu on now not dropping sight of the classes we’ve talked about teaching our daughter and for kicking ass while you were on that platform. Number 1 decide on one of the largest shows in the world??”
