Mr Gay World was once again hosted in South Africa, for the fourth time in the organisation’s 11-year history as 41-year-old Janjep Carlos from the Philippines competed against 21 delegates from around the globe, ultimately securing the title of Mr Gay World 2019.

Janjep bested 21 other candidates during the awarding ceremony held in South Africa, succeeding Australia’s Jordan Bruno. The pageant was used as a platform for the 22 contestants to voice their opinion on issues such as homophobia, inclusion, equality, racism, and gender identity.
This is the second time Janjep Carlos will compete for the crown, he also walked away with two other titles including Best in National Costume and Best in Written Exam. Through his platform, Janjep will continue to tackle mental health awareness as his social cause and work towards turning the illness into wellness.
