Brazilian pop singer Gabriel Diniz killed in plane crash at age 28

The 28-year-old Brazillian pop singer Gabriel Diniz with millions of fans on social media was killed in a plane crash.

Gabriel Diniz was traveling to Maceió, Alagoas, to attend his girlfriend Karoline Calheiros’ birthday celebration.

The Latin artist was a passenger on the Maceió-bound plane, which reportedly crashed encountering bad weather near Porto do Mato on the southern coast.


The plane crashed halfway through the flight, near the southern coast of Sergipe, killing Diniz and the two pilots Linaldo Xavier and Abraão Farias. Authorities are still investigating the incident.

Fans of the Brazilian artist took to social media to pay their respects in heartfelt tributes, videos and notes of sympathy.“It is with a lot of pain that we confirm the death of Gabriel Diniz and the plane’s crew,” his team wrote in a statement Tuesday.

More than 4.5 million Instagram followers on Diniz’s verified account wrote in the comments section of the singer’s final post from a May 26 performance. “Always a joy to return to Feira de Santana and be greeted with such joy and with so much positive energy,” Diniz wrote on his final post, concluding with, “Thank you for the kindness guys.”

A day before the fatal crash, Diniz had performed a concert in Feira de Santana. He posted an Instagram photo of the event with a special thank you to his fans in Feira de Santana.
