The World Cup legend Pele was last night admitted to a hospital in Paris after he attended a promotional event with Kylian Mbappe.
The 78-year-old former Brazilian footballer was in Paris for a sponsor event organized by Swiss watchmaker Hublot, where he met Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe and his family.
He was taken to hospital with a strong fever over night “as a precaution”, but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
Pele – who netted over 1,000 goals in his career – joked at social function that the Paris Saint-Germain winner Mbappe is trying to emulate him
Pele, whose full name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, is widely considered one of the greatest footballers of all time helping Brazil win three World Cups between 1958-1970. He spent his entire career with Santos in his native Brazil, retiring in 1974, before a brief stint at New York Cosmos.
