Manchester United beat 3:1 PSG, qualify for quarter-finals with Shocking VAR penalty
Manchester United comeback against PSG of last eight of the Champions League, following their 3-1 defeat, was great shock to Paris Saint-Germain, thanks to Romelu Lukaku’s first-half goals Marcus Rashford penalty at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.
Romelu Lukaku started in place of the suspended Paul Pogba in midfield opened scoring within two minutes for United, pouncing on a defensive mistake to slot home.
The Belgian forward rounded Gianluigi Buffon before finishing into an empty net to make it 1-0 on the day to United and reducing the aggregate deficit to 2-1.
Lukaku got his second goal in the 30th minute, finding himself in the right place at the right time when Buffon spilled a shot by Rashford.
The 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain from the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side battled bravely at the Parc des Princes to try and overturn the deficit.While,PSG levelled after Kylian Mbappe found space in the box to tee up Bernat. But Lukaku ensured that the Red Devils went in on top at the break, reacting quickest to Marcus Rashford’s rebound.
Kylian Mbappe had two chances to equalize and restore PSG’s two-goal aggregate edge in the minutes that followed, but his sliding attempt to redirect a Bernat cross was slightly mistimed before he had another close-range opportunity blocked before it could reach David De Gea’s goal.
Despite all of their injuries and their 2-0 loss at Old Trafford in the first leg, Man chester United are heading to the Champions League quarterfinals.
