Danny Young Sues Tiwa Savage , Mavins Records For Copyright Infringement seeks N200M damages

The singers Danny Young Creative Legal filed a lawsuit against Tiwa Savage and Mavins Records for damages in the sum of N200,000, 000. 00 (Two Hundred Million Naira) for copyright infringement.

Danny Young is seeking remedy against Tiwa Savage and Mavins Records for unlawfully copying his 2009 release, Oju Tiwon, in Tiwa’s 2018 release, One.

The lawsuit (Suit No: FHC/L/CS/230/2019) was filed at the Federal High Court, Lagos, on the 13th day of February, 2019.

Clarifying why the case must be established, Justin Ige, Principal Attorney at Creative Legal, replied, “Piracy is bad enough, but it is perhaps worse when creative people appear to completely disrespect the intellectual property rights of fellow creatives. Such conduct should not be without due consequences”

Dany young stated, “I wasn’t the person who reached YouTube. My legal counselors took care of the procedure; I didn’t have even an inkling how they went about it. You know YouTube realizes the correct activity.”

“She felt we couldn’t do anything. I am certain she and her group realize that we have a substantial point. We didn’t approach them for cash, but we felt intellectual theft should be taken seriously in this part of the world.

This is only the starting; I intend to see this as far as possible in the event that she doesn’t contact us for a compromise.”
