Lady GaGa has throw in weight to defend amid Cardi B heavy backlash after she emerged the first woman to win Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Cardi came under massive heat on twitter and Instagram after she picked up the award for the Best Rap Album at the just concluded Grammy awards, a feat many tern as an insult to the black community.
It was the first time a solo female has won the prize since its inception in 1996.
Cardi fellow Grammy winner Gaga, who won three awards including two for her work on A Star Is Born, rushed to her defence on Tuesday.
She tweeted: “It is so hard to be a woman in this industry. What it takes, how hard we work through the disrespectful challenges, just to make art. I love you Cardi. You deserve your awards.
“I love you Cardi. You deserve your awards. Let’s celebrate her fight. “Lift her up & honor her. She is brave.”
Her tweet comes shortly after Cardi B deactivated her Instagram account due to the huge criticism she received.
Many social media users have trolled the rapper by saying she didn’t deserve the award and that it was an insult to black women for a Latina to win such in Black History month.
