Missy Elliott becomes first female rapper to be inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame

The Virginia native, 47 Missy Elliott is set to become the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame,organisation, founded in 1969, announced the new group of inductees on Saturday.

Other inductees include Joni Mitchell, Marvin Gaye, and Dallas Austin — the songwriter behind radio hits for TLC, Monica, Pink, Boyz II Men, Madonna and more.

Elliott will make the third rapper to enter the Songwriters Hall, following Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri’s inductions in 2017 and 2018,

Elliott tweeted,I want to CONGRATULATE ALL THE AMAZING Songwriter who have been inducted into the 2019 ‘Song Writers Hall of Fame,’

” those who were nominated because their body of work is amazing. I AM SO HUMBLY GRATEFUL to now be inducted… also I love you all.
