National Youth Service Corps has canceled the service year of popular musician, David Adeleke aka Davido, over his activities during his service year.
Recall that the “IF”singer revealed on Instagram in August that he would be taking part in the compulsory scheme. Also, it won’t be forgotten in a hurry how the OBO’s presence during registration caused an uproar in the Lagos camp. However, it seems like the singer is no longer a corper.
Top sources in the NYSC who spoke to a Punch correspondent, disclosed that management of NYSC cancelled Davido’s service year for “absconding” from the camp during the orientation camp and this reportedly brought to an end his participation in the 2018 Batch ‘B’ Stream II in Lagos State, where he had been posted.
It was also gathered that Davido violated many of the scheme’s regulations which include:
Bringing vehicles into the orientation camp
Dereliction of camp activities
Disclosing official information
Engaging in private practice
Taking part in partisan politics
Reporting late to duty and possibly leaving orientation camp without a prior written permission of the state coordinator
It could be recall that Davido frequent traveling was also a contributing factor. Punch reported that he traveled to seven different countries during this time. Boston, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC, Georgia, Minnesota, London, Sao Tome, Accra, Mayotte, Lebanon, UAE, among others.
The source said; Not long after, he began going on his music tour, outside the confinement of the NYSC program and hence, a penalty was awarded to him – there was not much of news after this, not until recently when the singer revealed his one-year program was canceled.
According to Vaguard, One Adesegun Adebayo Adeosun had posted his letter of commendation for outstanding performance from NYSC on Instagram and not long after Davido showed up in the comments section with a message that read, “Nah so dem cancel my own.” Although Davido did not reveal the reason responsible for the cancellation of his programme.
