Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN dris Kutigi is dead. He was 78 years old.
The former died in a London hospital on Saturday night,the chief press secretary to Niger State governor, Jibrin Ndace, confirmed the death.
Jurist died in the United Kingdom on Saturday night after a brief illness.”Ndace said “.
Kutigi was the chief justice of Nigeria between 2007 and 2009 and after retirement, he was made the chairman of the Constitutional Conference set up by the Jonathan administration in 2014.
The Jurist was born on December 31, 1939 in Kutigi, Lavun local government of Niger State. He served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Niger State before he became a High Court Judge in 1976.
He joined the Supreme Court in 1992 and was appointed by former President Olusegun Obansajo to succeed former CJN Alfa Belgore in 2007.
He is survived by 18 children and over 40 grandchildren.
