President Buhari is the first president from Sub-Saharan Africa to meet with the US president.
the Financial Times alleging that America’s President Donald Trump referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as ‘lifeless,’ after their meeting last April in the White House and that he doesn’t want to see such a ”lifeless” person again.
However, President Trump had praised President Buhari during the joint-press conference after the meeting in April.
“Nigeria has a reputation for very massive corruption. I also know that the President has been able to cut that down very substantially. We talked about that, he is working on it and they have made a lot of progress and I think they will continue to make a lot of progress,” Trump said at the Press conference.
Both Nigerians and the world have continued to react to the shocking statement published on the Financial Times, on Monday,
In the report, it read “Donald Trump will welcome Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta to the White House on Monday for what will be only the second one-on-one meeting the US president has held with an African leader since he took office last year.
It however added that “the first meeting with Nigeria’s ailing 75-year-old Muhammadu Buhari in April, ended with the US President telling aides he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again, according to three people familiar with the matter”.
However,Reno Omokri has criticized buhari , If the leader of the Free World can’t stand @MBuhari and believes that he is absolutely ‘lifeless’, can Nigeria expect any cooperation from the West with Buhari in charge. We need an assertive leader who can look Trump in the eye and say NO! Buhari is not that leader #RenosDarts
