Part of her visit to some African countries,British Prime Minister Theresa May has arrived in Nigeria after visit to other Africa nation.
May proceeded to the Presidential Villa, Abuja for a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
channel reports that both leaders are expected to discuss the security challenges in the country, the economy, the 2019 general elections and other issues during the meeting.
President Buhari has cancelled the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, to welcome his August visitorm Theresa May arrived exactly 1pm and was ushered in by the military pipers of the Guard Brigade Band where President Buhari officially welcomed her.
President Buhari and May would also sign vital defence and economic agreements between Nigeria and the UK,”Presidency said.
Security has been beefed up at the Murtala Muhammed Airports, Ikeja, ahead of the British Prime Minister to Lagos state, security agencies including the Police, the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps and the Nigerian Army are at strategic locations within the precincts of the airport.
Also deployed are officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency to ensure smooth human and vehicular movement.
May is on a trade mission in an attempt to bolster Britain’s post-Brexit fortunes. This is her first visit to Africa since she became Prime Minister in 2016.
She will be accompanied by a 30-man business delegation as part of her efforts to “deepen and strengthen” partnerships around the world as the UK prepares to leave the European Union (EU) next year.
