Since the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo departure from from Real Madrid this summer, rumours of who might come in to replace him have dominated the sports pages around the world.
Over the past few weeks, names such as Edison Cavani and Eden Hazard have featured high on the list. However, we are no closer to finding out who Real Madrid has in mind to replace their former talisman.
Robert Lewandowski is reportedly “pushing to leave Bayern Munich” this summer as he “continues to dream” of signing for Real Madrid.
Real are aware of his desire to join them having discussed a move with his agent Pini Zahavi and they’re prepared to pay a “reasonable price” to secure his signature.
However, Bayern are resisting a move and Los Blancos do not want to sour a positive relationship with the German club by entering into a “war” with them over the striker.
The 29-year-old has won the Bundesliga four times in his four years at the Allianz Arena and is seeking a new challenge.
Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi recently said: “Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career. The managers of Bayern know about it.”
