Sampaoli reveals what Messi will do against Super Eagles as he names Moses as most relevant player
The Argentina team is not at its best level ahead of today’s match at Krestovsky Stadium, following their 3-0 loss to Croatia and the draw against Iceland.
Argentina coach, Jorge Sampaoli has said he expects captain Lionel Messi to touch the ball more against Nigeria on Tuesday.
The South Americans are on the brink of an early exit, after picking only one point from their two matches. Messi has failed to shine in Russia so far, as he is yet to score or provide an assist.
Sampaoli has explained “For the good of Argentina, I’m sure Messi will touch the ball more against Nigeria,” Sampaoli told a media conference on Monday. His star player messi did not perform against Croatia.
“I think that [Croatia] match was complicated for Leo, he didn’t get enough balls from the midfield. Argentina didn’t dominate like we did against Iceland.
Jorge Sampaoli has named Chelsea wingback, Victor Moses as the most relevant player in the Super Eagles squad.
“They have very relevant players with a lot of experience such as Moses and the team in the second half of the matches they tend to make the difference from the physical standpoint, and they tend to play from box to box,”
