Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has uncovered that super eagle can’t bear to lose any of their last two Group D fixtures at the 2018 World Cup.
He said that they require no less than four points to fit the bill for the round of 16.
Rohr however, admitted that qualification for round of 16 is still in their hands.
Rohr expressed this after the Eagles were defeated 2-0 at the Kaliningrad Stadium by Luka Modric drove Croats putting their qualification from group stage in danger.
”It is important to make at least four points if you want to qualify, we are only one point behind for the moment, nothing is lost, all is our hands, so let’s be positive and believe we can do it,” Rohr told reporters.
”We have the youngest team in the World Cup, let them learn from this match and try to do better.
Rohr’s men will take on Iceland at the Volgograd Arena on June 22 before clashing with Argentina in Saint Petersburg four days later.
He said, ”We saw the good game of Iceland against Argentina, very strong team. We know that they are able to do very well, we also can do better than we did today.”
Meanwhile, Iceland coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has warned Super Eagle it would be foolhardy for anyone to underestimate his team in the Russia 2018 World Cup after they earned a point in their David versus Goliath fixture against Argentina at Spartak Stadium in Moscow on Saturday.
Hallgrimsson hinted that he would abandon the team’s traditional 4-4-2 formation and play negative tactics against the Eagles like they did against Argentina.
“We are a nightmare to play against and we can beat anybody when we have our day.”
