England’s 92-year-old Queen Elizabeth II had cataract surgery last month.Buckingham Palace confirmed today that the Queen successfully underwent a short, planned procedure to treat a cataract last month,
News reporter Chris Ship, the surgery took place at King Edward VII hospital. “The Queen was treated at King Edward VII hospital for her cataract operation – the same hospital which carried out the hip replacement operation on her husband,” he wrote on Twitter. “I understand the operation (day surgery) happened on May 4th.”
Queen Elizabeth’s recovery hasn’t stopped her from fulfilling her duties. Despite Prince Philip’s retirement from public life back in August of 2017, the Queen still maintains a very busy schedule.
Her husband Prince Philip will then celebrate his 97th birthday on Sunday. The palace announced he had undergone successful hip surgery in April after retiring from public life last summer, having attended more than 22,000 engagements and delivered nearly 5,500 speeches over the years.
