A female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) doing her one-year obligatory service in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State is as of now in a basic condition after she was supposedly struck and assaulted by a 15-man pack of criminals who attacked the ‘Corpers Lodge’ at Yenizue Gene, a suburb of Yenagoa, around 3a.m. recently June 17th
New Telegraph reports that the outfitted criminals overwhelmed the area vigilantes who are generally equipped with just sticks and machetes.
The thieves allegedly went to the NYSC Corpers Lodge where they persuasively took away a female corps part. As indicated by resident of the community, who talked on the state of namelessness, the corps member was repeatedly raped by the hoodlums who took her in turns.
The residents went to save her after the robbers had wrapped up her. They took her to the clinic where hospital where doctors are working to stabilize her.
sources said however the police were alarmed, there was little they could do in light of the fact that the region had been tossed into darkness by the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC). A vigilante, who gave his name basically as Tonye, said the security men feared running into ambush.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Asinim Butswat, said the summon is yet to get any information about the occurrence.
