Manchester United are set to complete a move for Porto right back, Diogo Dalot.
Machester manager,Jose Mourinho has reportedly been in the market for a right-back to compete with Antonio Valencia for a place in United’s starting line-up, with Matteo Darmian’s future at the club unclear.
Portugal U21 international Dalot is understood to have a €20m (£17.4m) release clause in his Porto contract – which expires next summer – and is thought to have attracted interest from some of Europe’s leading clubs
Dalot has represented Portugal from under-15 to under-21 level and made his Porto debut in October.
Dalot who can also play in midfield and at left-back, the position he has operated in primarily for Sérgio Conceição’s side.
Pundits say the young defender is being viewed as an ideal understudy to Antonio Valencia, who is 33-yrs-old and needs constant treatment on a knee injury.
Dalot helped Portugal win the 2016 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, scoring twice in five games in Azerbaijan including once in the final against Spain.
Dalot played out of position for Porto at left-back in the Champions League knockout stages against Liverpool earlier this season.
Matteo Darmian is set to join Juventus, while Dutch international Daley Blind is unlikely to still be a United player by the start of the new season.
