The Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi who is the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, polled a total of 941 votes, to defeat former Governor Segun Oni and 31 other aspirants.
Fayemi secured 941 votes, beating Segun Oni (481), Kayode Ojo (281), Olufemi Richard Bamisile (179), Oluyede Oluwole (121), and Aluko Daniel Olugbenga (86).
The Chairman of the Primary Election Committee,Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, announced the outcome of the election at the venue of the exercise in Ado Ekiti, the State capital, he commended the voters for impressive turnout and conduct.
Some of the aspirants such as Biodun Amudipe and Patrick Adekunle did not score a single vote while Senator Ayo Arise; Bamidele Olumilua’s son, Muyiwa polled two votes and Opeyemi Bamidele scored eight votes.
Fayemi will be contesting the incumbent Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Mr Kolapo Olusola, of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Mr Akinloye Oladele Aiyegbusi of the Social Democratic Party.
