Ex-Arsenal player, Martin Keown hails Sergio Ramos after Salah’s injury
Real Madrid secured a 3-1 victory over Liverpool on Saturday night as they won their third consecutive Champions League trophy with Ramos.
former Arsenal player, Martin Keown, has described Real Madrid star, Sergio Ramos as a defender like no other after the Spaniard’s display that helped the La Liga giants to their 13th European title.
Ramos lifted the fourth trophy of his career at full-time of the match.
inflicting injury on Reds talisman, Mohamed Salah, who was forced off in the first half.
Keown feels Ramos did not try to rule his opponent out of the game completely, he is sure the Spain international wanted to let him know he was in for a tough game.
Hesaid,I love watching Sergio Ramos. He is a beacon of light in an era when there are not enough good defenders,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“It is little wonder he is the world’s most decorated defender. This is a player who will time and again put his body on the line in pursuit of glory. A player whose leadership qualities are second to none. A player who not even Diego Costa can bully.
“But the best defenders will target the danger man and — within the laws of the game — use whatever means necessary to test them to the limit.”
“I don’t like to see the kind of challenge that curtailed Mohamed Salah’s final. Ramos grabs hold of Salah’s arm and twists it around, almost like a
judo throw. It was clear he was trying to leave a little bit on his opponent.
