Senator represents Katsina North (Daura Zone) in the Senate, died on Wednesday morning after brief illness.
The younger brother of the deceased, Kanta Bukar confirmed the death and said that Bukar died in the early hours of Wednesday at the Nizamiyya hospital, Abuja.
President Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, posted on his official Twitter account that Bukar was “an honest man”.
The National Assembly has suffered two similar losses in recent weeks.
Senator representing Bauchi South senatorial district, Ali Wakili, slumped at his Gwarimpa residence in Abuja while member representing Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Umar Buba Jibril, deputy leader of the House of Representatives, died in the early hours of Friday, March 30, 2018.
Bukar, born in Daura on December 31, 1954, was a civil engineer by training.
He was elected to the Senate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 and, until his death, was the Vice-Chairman of the Senate’s Power Committee.
Bukar survived by two wives and 12 children, including Dr Ibrahim Bukar of the Nigeria Communication Commission
He was a member of Institute of Civil Engineers, Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria, Nigerian Society of Engineers, American Waterwork Association.
