The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service Col. Hameed Ali (retd.) has defied the order of the Nigerian Senate that he appear before the upper house of legislature in the uniform of the revenue-generating outfit.
Hameed Ali, has arrived the National Assembly for his appearance before the senators. He however defiled their order to appear in a Customs uniform, intsead arriving in mufti. He came in at about 10.30am in company of the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Senate matters, Ita Enang.
This is contradictory to the directive of the Senate which had insisted severally that he must appear before the lawmakers in uniform depicting his rank as the DG.
Recall that there was uproar in the Senate on Wednesday, March 15 after Ali failed to show up but sent a letter instead saying he could appear before the lawmakers because he was bereaved.
But the Senators kicked and called on the Senate leadership to compel Ali to appear before the upper house of legislature on Thursday, March 16 or risk being arrested.
Some of the senators who kicked at Ali’s decision said the institution cannot afford to join issues with him but will compel him to do as the lawmakers want.
