Edo state- The first female Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly Elizabeth Ativie, has stepped down
Elizabeth Ativie’s who emergence as Speaker May 3 followed the impeachment of the former Speaker of the House, Victor Edoror and his Deputy, Bright Osayande, over alleged financial recklessness, high-handedness, dictatorial tendencies, among others.
She was asked to step down by the party leadership to pave way for a lawmaker from Edo Central senatorial district to emerge Speaker.
The reasons why she wase ask to step down was to balance power equation in the state.
