GOv Okezie Ikpeazu sets up panel to probe behead of 2 ABSU Students

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has vowed to bring to book the perpetrators of the beheading of two students of Abia State University, Uturu, last Saturday.

He made this assurance through a statement by the Chief Press Secretary,Godwin Adindu, on Tuesday in the state capital, Umuahia, and explained that an investigative panel to probe the beheading of the students has been set up with the sole aim of fishing out the criminals.
The governor, while condemning the heinous crime, urged security operatives to be more vigilant in protecting the welfare of the students of the university, both within and outside the campus. He also advised parents to properly educate children on the dangers of cultism.
“It is disheartening that students will leave their educational pursuit to engage in cultism and other vices in school. In order to forestall such ugly occurrences, schools should keep the full data of students during admission in case of eventualities,” he said.
The two students were beheaded by suspected cultists on Saturday night in the lodge they were residents of, which was said to be only four kilometres from the campus. The suspected cultists then displayed the heads of their victims in full view on the goalposts of a football field.
