In an announcement by Lagos State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy,Steve Ayorinde, the Lagos State government has chosen to re-open the Mile 12 market that has been closed down since March third 2016, because of Yoruba/Hausa revolts that left some dead, missing, and property burned to the ground. 

Ayorinde noted that the re-opening is as a result of the agreement reached in the stakeholders meeting between market men/women, Community Development Associations, and traditional leaders in the Agiliti and Maidan groups. 
As indicated by the official, the partners concurred that henceforth, Commercial Motorcycle (Okada) Operators will no more work in the range, the business sector must be kept clean at all times, and all shanties and illicit structures ought to be destroyed. 
They additionally concurred that the market ought to be moved to a superior spot subsequent to the present area can no more suit them and their customers.
