Former Brazil forward Edilson Da Silva claim that he was better than Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar in his prime.
Despite the clear gulf in individual accolades, Edilson tried to explain the reason he believes he is surely better than the trio.
According to Edilson, the Barcelona legend has to win the World Cup to prove he is better than him.
Edilson said compatriot Neymar has to win the competition to be better than him, insisting that he was more skillful than the trio.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is just strength; he strikes the ball well with both feet, but I’m more skillful than him.”
The 49 Years statement read:
“At my best, I played better than Neymar. He needs to win the World Cup in order to be better than me. I have personality, and for Messi to be better than me, he also has to win the World Cup,”.
Messi and Ronaldo are considered among the greatest players of all time while Neymar has played more than 100 matches for Brazil. Out of the three, Messi has come closest to winning the World Cup, reaching the final of the 2014 World Cup against Germany.
Former Brazilian football star Edilson was part of the Brazilian side that won the Japan/Korea 2002 World Cup title.
Both Messi and Ronaldo have been playing at the top of their careers for the past 10 years. Neymar is yet to win the Ballon d’or in his career, but the duo of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have shared 11 awards so far without world cup trophy.
