The legendary basketball star Kobe Bryant 41,died in a helicopter crash on Sunday.
The former Los Angeles Lakers superstar was killed in a fiery helicopter crash from his Orange County home California claimed eight others lives, including his 13 year old daughter,Gianna ‘Gigi’ Bryant.
According to multiple media reports, the 41-year-old was on board with other people when the private helicopter manifest caught fire after crashing into the hills of Calabasas, Calif.
The helicopter, a Sikorsky S-76B built in 1991, departed John Wayne Airport at 9:06 a.m. Sunday, according to publicly available flight records. The chopper passed over Boyle Heights, near Dodger Stadium, and circled over Glendale during the flight.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were investigating the crash, a spokesperson for the FAA said.
Orange Coast College confirmed that baseball coach John Altobelli was among the others who died in the crash. As a mentor and coach for 27 years, he helped students earn scholarships to play at four-year colleges and treated players like family, the school said in a statement.

Mr. Bryant took a helicopter from his Newport Beach home to Staples Center in Los Angeles during his playing career to avoid traffic and not exacerbate the pain that he tolerated after enduring numerous injuries.
He is survived by his wife and 3 children: Natalia and Bianca and newborn Capri, who was born in June 2019. Kobe is considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time and played for 20 years with the Los Angeles Lakers.
