Chelsea had tried to sign Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater for most of the summer has finally seal a £30million deal before the transfer deadline elapsed.
Leicester had previously rejected a £23m bid by Antonio Conte’s side but the Blues managed to get the deal over the line at the last minute
Danny Drinkwater, who joined Leicester in 2012 from Manchester United, has won three England caps since making his international debut in March 2016.
The Blue technical director Michael Emenalo said Drinkwater’s experience would help the team achieve more result.
He said,: ‘Danny is not only a Premier League winner but also has Champions League experience which will be invaluable for us this season.
‘He is a typically combative English midfielder with a cultured passing technique and his arrival significantly strengthens our midfield options.’
